The OSC Donner Lodge was originally built by the enterprising founding members of the club. Members have been lovingly maintaining and improving it ever since, carefully preserving its rustic elegance and European style. It now houses 40 beds in ten private rooms, a large, fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, a recreation room, and a wonderfully welcoming great room where members gather around the fire in the evening.
During the ski season our caretaker cooks Saturday and Sunday breakfast and Saturday dinner. The cost is included in the price of lodging. During the week members are free to use the kitchen to prepare their own meals.
Members must make a reservation to stay at the lodge using the club’s online reservation system. Guests are welcome when there is room and must be accompanied by a member. Everyone staying at the lodge must perform a chore and observe all club and lodge rules.
How Do I Get to the Lodge? The address of the Lodge is 58620 Old Donner Summit Road, Soda Springs, CA 95728. Phone: 530-426-1023
What about Parking? Since Winter 2007 we have been able to park in front of the lodge all year round because OSC members have agreed to pay to plow Old Donner Pass Road. The annual plowing assessment is currently $100 per family per year. Guests are asked to pay a $12 nightly fee to park at the lodge in the winter.
What about Wifi? The lodge is wifi capable, with reliable internet connection by cable.
Our Caretaker
One of the great benefits of OSC membership is having a cook on winter weekends. The caretakers we’ve had in recent years have been excellent cooks, producing gourmet meal after gourmet meal, and it’s all included in the price of lodging.
The caretaker also serves as a general custodian of the lodge and keeps an eye on things when members are not there. The members are still responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the lodge.
